The criminal case: The file

It was a quiet afternoon when the bell of the unexpectedly struck six times. The older residents of the town woke up with a start: they suddenly remembered a gruesome story that had happened over 100 years ago.

On 1 October 1917, Clothilde Kauffmann had been murdered in her villa. Six influential citizens accused the healer Friedrich Wendt without evidence. The outrage in the town grew and Friedrich suffered a fatal heart attack under the pressure of the false accusations.

On his deathbed, he uttered a curse: „You will pay for your lies. Whenever the bell tolls six times, no matter what time it is, one of you will fall within 15 minutes.“

At the time, this curse had terrified the inhabitants of the town, but over time the memory of it faded. The bell that was supposed to herald doom fell silent and over 100 years passed in which the town suppressed its dark past.

But now, during the restoration of the old church tower, the bell was brought back to life – and with it the curse. When the bell suddenly struck six times at two o’clock in the morning, time seemed to stand still.

The next morning, Klara Albrecht was found dead: She was a descendant of Wilhelm Albrecht, one of the six who had once accused Friedrich.

Fear returned to the town. The inhabitants remembered the curse and realised that the past had caught up with them. Who would die next?
